Lowey Statement Condemning Congressional Baseball Practice Shooting
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Nita M. Lowey (D-Rockland/Westchester), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, today released the following statement after a gunman attacked a Congressional Baseball game practice:
“Today's cowardly attack on Members of Congress, congressional staff, and law enforcement officers was an assault on all of us, and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. As I keep the victims and their loved ones in my heart, I am thankful for the courage of the U.S. Capitol Police and the Alexandria Police Department who responded fearlessly in the face of great danger, saving many lives.
“Above all else, we are Americans. Today and every day, the things that unite us will always be far stronger than those that divide us.”
