Lowey Criticizes Utilities Serving Westchester for Power Outages

March 6, 2018
Press Release

WHITE PLAINS, NY – Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-NY17/Rockland-Westchester) today issued the following statement on the ongoing power outages in Westchester:

“There is no disagreement that Winter Storm Riley caused widespread damage to utility infrastructure, leading to severe power outages across Westchester. My staff and I have been in close contact with constituents who have lost power and remain without it, power companies, and elected officials, and continued outages are absolutely unacceptable. I fully support Governor Cuomo’s directive for the NYS Department of Public Service to investigate the response to the power outages caused by the storm. I will continue pushing to restore power and to ensure that power companies are prepared for the coming storm so my constituents are not without electricity for days on end.”
